Prakash & Ellenhorn is a private Assertive Community Treatment program (ACT), led by Dr. Prakash and Dr. Ellenhorn.

Dr. Prakash is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. She is on staff in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical work at MGH is in Primary Care and Medical Psychiatry with an emphasis on bipolar and psychotic disorders. She teaches and supervises residents in the MGH-McLean Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Dr. Prakash was trained at MGH and McLean Hospital and was Chief Resident and later Psychiatrist-in-Charge of the Bipolar and Psychotic Disorders Program at McLean Hospital . More recently, she led an Assertive Community Treatment Team in the Boston area. Dr. Prakash’s research is in neurochemistry and psychopharmacology . Her scientific knowledge is coupled with a commitment to comprehensive and effective care for persons with severe and persistent mental illness. Dr. Prakash views psychiatry as a science and an art, a balance between psychopharmacology treatments and psychosocial rehabilitation.

Trained as a sociologist and psychotherapist, Dr. Ellenhorn’s career has been dedicated to the work of helping individuals find the psychological and social means of remaining in the community, even at times of great psychiatric distress. His most recent article regarding techniques for diverting hospital use appears in The American Journal of Orthopsychiatry. He has given workshops throughout the country, and has provided consultation to numerous mental health agencies and psychiatric hospitals on this subject. Dr. Ellenhorn created the first fully operating intensive hospital diversion and wrap-around psychiatric program in Massachusetts. He recently initiated and led an Assertive Community Treatment Team in the Boston area. With over twenty years experience in the mental health field, Dr. Ellenhorn has extensive leadership experience creating and running innovative, intensive, and comprehensive mental health services.
